Why would I stick strictly to long term holdings when I know I can make money buying and selling every now and then.
At the end of the day the reason you invest (or trade) a stock is to make money. So why would an individual not take an opportunity to sell on/during a run, and then buy back later when the price has pulled back if they are willing to take that risk.
As I have said previously, ride the waves and invest/trade in an informed manner. Everyone has a different strategy, one is not necessarily better than the other.
