Happens in (nearly) every share on the market. It's called HFT - high frequency trading. Read Michael Lewis "Flash Boys" for a (very exaggerated) guide. It's not manipulation. It's computers with algorithms who do millions of trades of small value. It's not entirely fair as they have better gear than just about anyone in the world and they do get in the way of your orders sometimes. ADN was nothing special in this respect, but there was good volume and some volatility which made it a good place to come and "play" once it was in the various indices. Google "Tibra Trading"
