Mate, if James Marsh or anyone else doesn't want to have their comments taken verbatim, it's incumbent on them not to make absolute statements that "X has happened" or "X will happen" when the event in question is either uncertain or unverifiable.
I'm not down on him for problems arising or situations that change or evolve - those are a given in the circumstances. The problem here is overpromising or giving the wrong information and then telling shareholders who question it that they had the wrong end of the stick.
I think in general the company has got better at communicating these things, but that particular answer was a return to bad habits.
