    This is a Wet Screen (Derrick in Bufalo New York State), I know a guy that went their and I led a research project with them for Mineral Sand seperation,

    By memory,

    Each wet screen can go up to 15tph, so a triple deck is 45tph,

    Dry on the other hand was like 1.5tph and 4.5tph but the material needs to be like 100% dry, so no good for flash drying which is only 98%.

    Therefore to remove the sand, 2 double screens, or 4 single screens (depending on cut size in micron) would do the job,

    Wet is much easier than dry separation, however drying (if required) with the wet clays after might use a lot of energy, hence why its done in China.

    But this is the go from my experience to separate sand from clay in a bulk manner.

    Dry is a dirty, dusty, low tph process.
