Random thought. And apologies in advance here - please feel free to tell me to jam it and that I am invading personal space, or simply just ignore this. Who knows, the site might block it? not sure...
I know that one of the 'quick and dirty' things that I often do when initially looking at a potential new stock is look at total buyer v total sellers. I use Bell Trading, below is an image of what I am talking about for AAU right now.
If I didn't know AAU, my first reaction would be - well that's too many selling, I'm not sure the time is right (2237848 v 4778670). Then I might not read too much further, or if I do I may do so I might so so more quickly and miss a good opportunity (I know I have in the past... to my own detriment)
Now - because I am lazy, I have had a small sell order sitting at ~double the current share price. It has been there since before the scoping study was released. I honestly thought the study was going to push us to mid-teens and that I would take out a small amount of initial investment to put into other stocks. Incidentally since then I have put heaps more cash into AAU because the announcements have kept coming, and the SP is still a bargain - but that is besides the point!
Anyway, what I was going to suggest was that I suspect many of us might also have something similar. I wonder if a handful of HC readers on AAU killed any minor sell order that is just sitting in the ether, well about the current price, what that might do for the total buy/sell equation? Obviously please do not take this as any suggestion of changing any strategy you have. Please do not change whatever pathway you as an individual have chosen... I am just putting it out there. I removed my order as regardless it remains so far about the SP anyway so on a practical level was useless. Then it occurred to me given there are only 1024 shareholders in total, there is a chance a few of us could do similar and shift that simple visible equation?
