I feel duped after pumping the Honourable Angus Taylor's position on firming just yesterday. This is the issue with relying on policy for your profit drivers, they are so darn fickle. Today the Honourable is out spruiking the benefits of coal and gas as firming options in their new subsidy package. If coal and gas gets subsidised for their 'firming' properties, this will come directly at the cost of batteries, pumped hydro, etc. It would also make it more difficult for solar and wind to compete, and drive down their valuations. It will be interesting to see what the position Australia has after the climate talks in Glasgow next week.
