You're mistaken about the sequence of events. The Board publicly announced the Performance Shares on Jan 31, but they decided secretly to give themselves the gift on Jan 12. They timed this decision with the Covid testing announcements, in order to spike the SP, and the ATL was Jan 19 or 20. After the Performance Shares were announced, the SP has only dropped consistently, from about $4.90 at the start of Feb, to its present level of $1.20.
