I think Viraleze is an excellent product, but I’m highly doubtful that any governments would invest in stockpiling it just based on in vitro data. Without animal studies showing prevention of infection, and ideally human clinical trials as well, I think Viraleze will remain a relatively niche product, just selling to individuals and the occasional company.

That’s why I’d love Starpharma to partner up with a company down the track who could do those clinical efficacy studies, because that would really take it to the next level, in terms of potential markets. Unfortunately I don’t think that ma nagement will take the risk in seeking partners to do this. Based on the condom and vivagel experience, they’ll be content with small, direct to consumer sales, rather than aggressively pursuing a big partnership.
