All the Australian settlers have done is bring some civilization to this vast country. And probably saved the existing indigenous people from invasion from far more aggressive invaders from Asia or elsewhere.
When the settlers arrived here around 1788 they were met with a very primitive people made up of many tribes, who fought each other and would steal each others women...family violence was common. Recovered very old remains of indigenous women has found broken bones and major skull injuries.
The people had no mathematical skills in their languages,and grew almost none of their own food, relying on fire to flush out native animals to eat, occasionally spearing fish species such as Dugong and Turtles, and digging for plant roots to eat.
The English came here to settle the country...sure under the guise of a penal colony, but many countries were trying to offload the criminals anywhere else.
Since the first day there was attempts to communicate with the Aboriginal folk, Yes there was the occasional fight and unfortunately some died, both white and black.
There were rules put in place to protect the indigenous folk, they weren't hunted mercilessly which is what some activists like to believe.
We are all Australians....we should be proud if who we are. The Greens and other lunatic fringe activist groups need to look in the mirror occasionally. They are desperately trying to divide this country, for what purpose and to what end who knows...I am sure they have no idea either.
As has been said already...if these extremists do somehow get their way, they'll be like the dog that caught up with the hub cap...no idea what to do next. I suppose they'll just look for another stupid argument to peddle further to disrupt our country...
