I've spent time in research myself and I understand the rate that these thing move at. There is research blue sky and then there is commercial blue sky. I'm selfishly interested in the later.

I'm wondering if JM was indicating something along your lines of thinking. Toll processing, blending or even just marketing, or some other form of downstream value add (using other industrial products). Alternatively he may have just been indicating that he intended to dip his toes into anything that turn up in our patch of dirt.
