Some more light weekend reading for everyone, @Disclosure will love this!

Ok, so the sheer amount of studies into halloysite nanotube usage is actually staggering. Nearly every week there is promising research published on their different applications. Here are two more that are definetly worth reading:

One which is titled "Fabrication of colorful wear-resistant superhydrophobic coatings based on chemical modified halloysite" essentially the study concludes that:

A method for preparing colorful superhydrophobic coatings based on chemical modification of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) was proposed. The coatings coupled with commercial epoxy resin (EP) were prepared by spraying method. The prepared coatings showed excellent self-cleaning performance and corrosion resistance. At the same time, the hybrid colorful superhydrophobic coatings possess excellent mechanical and chemical stability. Above all, the method proposed is environmental-friendly and simple, which has the potential for large-scale industrial applications.

Interestingly the Halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were purchased from Runwo Materials Technology Co., Ltd., Guangzhou China. I wonder where they got them from?

Imagine if the military or aviation industries wanted a large supply of halloysite for these types of waterproof coating applications.... NZ is running out, the mines in China are shut down and the one in Utah is tiny in comparison.

    -----------------------------------

Another new research study (Kaolinite group minerals: Applications in cancer diagnosis and treatment) is a great summary on the current available research into the potential applications of the kaolinite’s group minerals in cancer diagnosis and monitoring, cancer treatment, the avoidance of metastasis, and the relief of cancer pains. It also gives a clear picture on how they actually work without too much science, which goes completely over my head.

A variety of anticancer drugs have been loaded in the kaolinite’s group minerals. Furthermore, these minerals, and especially halloysite, are promising carriers not only for drugs but also for enzymes and genes

In conclusion, halloysite, as well as kaolinite, are very promising materials for cancer applications and in combination with their low cost and their high availability may be considered as suitable materials for the development of controlled delivery anticancer formulations.

It's just a matter of time before these technologies are commercialised and Andromeda has the only super large scale, high purity resource to supply all of these industries. The concrete application was just one blue sky potential realised through scientific research, what occurs if cancer treatment, carbon capture, or super hydrophobic coatings become commercial realities in the next few years?
