The move away from animal treatments using antibiotics is gaining momentum at a rapid rate of knots.
People who have seen the Imugene results of their treatments have been extremely impressed, and their is good word-of-mouth is spreading fast amongst global pig and poultry farmers.
The European Union farmers will be banned from using animal antibiotics from 1st of January 2006.

The poultry productivity enhancer vaccine, has completed all pre-regulatory trials. The vaccine has demonstrated unsurpassed growth rates of 13-17% in poultry broilers (meat birds) with 7-8% improvements in Feed Conversion Efficiency, compared with unvaccinated birds. These growth rates are more than 8% above the theoretical maximum performance industry standard (Ross Standard). We have not seen any alternative antibiotic or other product come close to this performance.

40 billion chickens are produced globally each year with most produced at intensively farmed operations. The Poultry Productivity Enhancer, due to its unique qualities and low cost of production will be marketed to this global poultry market.

Pig Productivity Enhancers
Much like the poultry enhancer, Imugene is currently looking at three productivity enhancing cytokines that are delivered by the Adenoviral Vector system. Trials to date have shown growth improvements of up to 8%.

These productivity enhancers not only would increase productivity, but also boost the animal’s natural immune system to help fend off costly diseases.

Pig Circovirus
The Pig Circovirus disease affects newborn pigs and has been implicated as a cause of the damaging wasting syndrome in weaning pigs. Imugene, using its Adenoviral Vector, has developed a commercial vaccine candidate that could protect pigs from this disease. This disease causes massive losses to pig producers globally and there is currently no commercial vaccine available.

Classical Swine Fever
Also known as ‘hog cholera,’ Classical Swine Fever is a highly contagious disease that can wipe out whole herds of pigs with one outbreak. Loss of appetite, skin discolouration and extremely high fever all symptoms of this damaging disease. The commercial losses due to this disease are enormous.

Imugene is currently undertaking field trials with a new vaccine that will provide pig farmers with a cost effective product that provides complete protection from this harmful disease.

Pig Respiratory and Reproductive Virus Vaccine
This new disease, discovered in the US in 1986 and in Europe in 1990, is extremely infectious that causes fertility, respiratory problems and death. This disease has serious economic implications for the pig industry.
