Invest in businesses that are able to increase in intrinsic value irrespective of whether "the market booms, busts, zigs, zags or does the polka dance.

Then you don't have to worry what "the market" does (or interest rates, or steel prices, or exchange rates, politicians, or The Fed, or snowstorms, or tornadoes, or global warming, or the Communists, or the pixies at the bottom of the garden, or...)
