20 years back I had a Camry Ultima and the heater box core sprang a leak, phoned the local Toyota dealer for a price to fix it. 500 for the core and couldn't give me an exact price on labour but said around 3 thousand as the windscreen would have to come out to remove the whole dash assemble to access the heater box to replace the core. I couldn't justify spending that much on heaters so I bypassed it and had to use the air conditioner to demist the window, not fun in winter. 2 years later I was at a u pull it wrecker for a part for another vehicle when I came across a Camry with half the dash out, so I thought I would have a look to see the heater setup. Well 5 minutes later I had the core out easy as, and when I got home it took me 15 minutes to install. Just had to remove the side of the console, remove 2 'C' clips and 1 bolt, slide the core out, then reverse the procedure, then reconnect the hoses under the bonnet and done. Cost me $20.
