That is what I am hearing also. I urge everyone to check out the latest Limiting Factor vid on UToob as it discusses this very subject. China is going LFP chemistry as it is less volitile and has a 100% dicharge rate. CATL has just announced their new design LFP is 13% more energy dense than Teslas 4680 battery which is a game changer for LFP as it is so much cheaper to produce when compared to Nickel Cobalt.
The West definitely needs to pivot to LFP to compete with China who are years ahead in the journey to volume production of everyone but the leader Tesla. Unfortunately in disruptions the industry participants are the last to see the threat and when they do it is nearly always to late. This will be no different. The 2 companies expected to take the largest share of the EV market, Tesla and BYD had never built cars before.
There will be mountains of money spent over the next 10yrs by mostly Western Legacy Auto trying to catch up and complete. I believe they will largely fail and those that survive will have a much smaller market share. Battery minerals are about to become a battleground for the survival of legacy auto.
And that means Graphite. Hold on to your hats everyone. Not long now, momentum and sentiment crushed by Omicron and RU/Ukraine invasion is rebuilding. The weekly chart is ominous and very telling.
Good times ahead IMO.
