I also suspect China has played down the significance and preparedness of the domestic IO capacity as if it's a recent thought bubble simply because they talked about this for years. It's makes no sense to talk about something and did nothing about it. Simple logic really.
I believe they have built such a domestic IO capacity that in conjunction with the hefty stockpiling of steel and iron ore (domestic and imported), steel export curbs as well as ramp up in recycling and low quality steel production cuts that they can get by comfortably with sufficient imports (they will get everything they can firstly from Brazil) at around $60 IOP in the foreseeable future.
I keep emphasizing when news of Pilbara ships are told to drop anchor en masse at those IO ports, the IO price will fall like a stone.
