Shocking destruction, but because of the populous area and more than likely poor building standards, public health deficiencies the outcome of severe weather conditions is catastrophic. Far North Queensland has had a battering this wet season as well, with Cyclone Jasper being the wettest tropical cyclone on record, Northern beaches of Cairns to the Daintree had over 2 metres of rain in 5 days causing a large number of homes to be flooded.

Excessive heat and particularly humidity plagued the district, more persistent rain has been falling the last couple of weeks with the totals driving up into the hundreds of millimetres .it is certainly not an uncommon situation to get 300 milimetres in one day particularly to the south of Cairns. It makes me laugh when people think Twiggy stupid when he talks of lethal humidity, they have absolutely no bloody idea how extreme humidity can affect the human body This has been instrumental in the death of people I have known in the Far North. Ross River fever is still breaking out around this time of year causing debilitating disease. This whole country has taken a pounding from floods from North to South, along with rampant widfires,its becoming more frequent and intense but many still wish to ignore it, probably because they haven't been severely affected yet so its easy to hide the head in the sand.
