Australia is on the way to being a fourth world country. Post manufacturing, post development and post civilised. Deinvention is the way of the future for fourth world countries.
Whatever the country does do, don't dare have the technological capacity to manufacture substantial armaments, produce the fuel to operate them or have the skilled workforce to repair and maintain them.
Certain professions will be lining up to sue the bullets and bombs while others will be doing their darnedest to balance the scales.
As to the rest who are on the way to being reduced to selling coffee to each other, the skillset won't be very useful to build or operate the weapons needed to defend the nation.
