the (Ashkernazi) Jews of Israel are not altogether Semitic as a lot of people assume them to be. Central and Eastern European jews have a large
percentage of Slavic blood in them (some are even red headed and fair skinned). It happened from intermarriage between the Eastern Jews that came
to mainly Poland and Germany, up from the Black sea area over 1000 years ago. These Jews had forgotten a lot of their traditions, had intermarried with slavs including Ukrainians and Poles, and had to be taught their old tradiitons by the other Jews migrating north through the Holy Roman empire (from Rome mainly). They intermarried and hence have the Slavic blood (the majority of Ashkenazi of Europe were residing in Poland by the 18th century).
The Ashkenazi jews of Isreal know their European connection, in genes and in tradition, and consider themselves to be superior to the minority Sephardic
Jews (Jews from Arabic countries, but originally from Spain) of Israel.
