It's unfortunate that the Border Force staff (formerly immigration) have become a political target.
I presume they would have been involved in the joint operation by checking visas of those referred to them by the other forces present, rather than randomly stopping people in the street. Something they would have been involved in on many other occasions.
Now those public servants have become targets of abuse from sections of the general public.
A very badly managed joint force operation. Why the per-publicity and press conference?
If they were truly looking for visa over stayers they would have conducted a more covert operation rather than warning the over stayers not to turn up for work on the day.
