The Saudis always want someone else to do their dirty work - and they are willing to pay. They have always been the last to show up against Israel - and the first to leave. Gives an adequate impression of their character. Even during the invasion of Kuwait - by the Iraqis - the Iraqi army penetrated a couple k's into Saudi territory and any Saudi defender within 20k's ran like like babbling toddlers to the safety of Riyadh. This was documented by US advisors on the scene....
Even now in Yemen - how many Saudis are boots on the ground. Answer is - not one. They do it from the air....and even then not well. Real fighting is not in their DNA - I have personally seen a few Saudi slap-fights....when the 'girls'/Saudi men - get angry at each other. And they want to take on Iran....LOL...Their oil is not even on the radar of the US so who will step in to protect them?
