Actually that’s the problem. He wasn’t very accurate in the announcements. He pointed us towards tool malfunction as the reason for not obtaining initial fluid samples. But in reality it was tool damage caused by deteriorating hole conditions (coal ledges and washouts). The only specific mention of hole stability issues was a minor obstruction at the very base of the Lower Angwa. There was no mention of any other issues which were obviously causing problems from the top of the Upper Angwa as well.
