the govt merely 'intervenes' ( badly ) in markets within a free market economy.. the RBA pulls levers of monetary policy ( ineffectively ) to 'intervene' in capital flow throughout said markets in an attempt to create or restrain liquidity

none of the above will have any effect on our current inflation woes.. unless the RBA goes so hard as to induce a recession or the govt goes so hard on fiscal austerity as to induce a revolution.. neither of which people want so I guess we settle for inflation.. after all, we are the cause of it
