    Agree. I've seen quite a few (NZ owned) Mainfreight courier trucks running around Melbourne.

    Yes, NZ's Freightways owns Allied Express.

    Road freight has relatively low barriers to entry, so these moves by the Kiwis are as you imply competitive threats to Lindsay Australia and unlisted Linfox.

    However LAU should benefit from small road transport operators finding the going tough, and some exiting the subsector.

    I am fairly confident LAU will win more contracts than it loses, and be seen as increasingly attractive given that it's hardly in Australia businesses' interests to have Linfox with a monopoly in providing road and rail freight transport.

    That LAU has done exceedingly well with its huge increase in railable containers speaks volumes about the quality of LAU's management team in what can be a tough industry with low margins.
