While its true that China has made cuts to EV subsidies, it is also true that China has greatly increased the subsidies to develop more charging stations. Clearly, China has recognized the 'chicken and the egg' dynamic. Having gotten the EV industry up and running (the chicken), and able to hold its own, they have and are, responding to demand for more eggs.
It is also worth noting that Europe (mainly Germany) has recently increased their EV subsidies to circa $ 7,000. Generally speaking, due to new emissions laws in the EU, Europe is about to become the new frontier in EV demand; the timing of which corresponds with a flush of new and cheaper model EVs in 2020 and beyond.
