Living overseas and working

Hi all,

I am considering living overseas (currently in Australia) in either Europe or America for about a 6-month period.

I would like to be able to work in this period (currently specializing in I.T but willing to do anything) and was wondering if anyone has any experience arranging work overseas before leaving? Any tips or maybe methods of how to arrange work for overseas?

I was also wondering how accommodation like renting is arranged, etc. Really any information you can give me on this would be more than helpful. I've never traveled overseas so I really am a bit of a 'newbie'.
