Moosey - "who would want to use that drug unless it was absolutely necessary?"
People in chronic pain are desperate for anything that can give them some relief. This often means that the potential for relief far outweighs the risk of having these side effects, even if the risks are great. In fact, a high proportion would consider the listed side affects simply as a bunch of words on a leaflet similar to the what they've seen on the other 10 treatments they have tried to help with their chronic pain condition.
