as you say lots of evidence of severe long term effects from repeat Covid infections.
Go back pre 2020 - compare with catching a cold (often coronavirus), prevention is really not common people choice, it’s a risk and we don’t kiss someone with a cold, or share utensils but it’s seen just as general no consequence RISK. However if we catch a cold, we minimise symptoms, Panadol for temp and headache, Strepsils for sore throat, box of tissues, eucalyptus oil to help breathing etc. after 3 days we are better and won’t get another cold for 6 mths or a year. We don’t need vaccine
but covid is different
prophylactic preventatives are the ultimate solution but in 4 years our regulators haven’t solved that - encourage clean air, sanitize hands, mask and PPE if close to really sick person
REGULAR Viraleze might help as other above have attested but the regulator plays dumb and the trials for humans too difficult to conduct
so then there is treatment if you get covid. What does that aim to do, reduce viral load and solve symptoms
I maintain that Viraleze does all that a person in the community needs
proven to reduce viral load and significantly v placebo in independent human study for over 45s, stops symptoms quickly and if taken immediately or in first few days, normal life returns quickly. Cost under $15 per patient
the evidence I see for Paxlovid is many stay sick for a few days with terrible headaches and loss of smell and bad metallic taste / the $1114 pbs medication for over 70s or private script c $1500 is limited to 5 days and have significant rebound infections a few days to a month later. Often coughs last for months and patients are concerned that they have long covid just because of the cough
as for the ONLY other Antiviral Drug AUTHORISED for Community Use and in the medicine chests of Aged Care for fast deployment amongst all contacts when a COVID case is confirmed - the side effects are not from the drug but are from Covid because it fails statistically to treat COVID. Then the long term effect with is beginning to be an issue and is likely to grow as research uncovers the RNA modifications and mutagenic effects. Beyond retirement those adverse effects may be ignored (debatable) but what if a Health care worker in Aged Care catches COVID in her/his work and see the medicines cupboard loaded with Lagevrio for distribution amongst the resident group, it would seem a simple move to slip a box of lagevrio to take so they can return to work sooner and could well be condoned by Private Aged Care management. The HCW may well have a family in future and there is a risk of mutations in human DNA
OK
This is long and may be criticised by the usual commentators but there are massive ethical issues which simple antiviral nasal sprays like Viraleze could solve and Starpharma has offered up the product which in Australia because of Google Search issues already mentioned - SPL7013 will need a new name as no one will buy “Thalidomide” nasal spray. Viraleze is a damaged product name
But as a proven non absorbed product - it is far more useful for covid ands any future respiratory infection pandemic
