With the polls showing Labor would win the election, I can't imagine the Liberals would go to an election with Abbott as leader and the prospect of another term in opposition. Just doesn't make sense.

I maybe a case of waiting for a few more polls to confirm the trend and/or give Abbott a chance to recover but realy the writing is on the wall.

Hmm wonder if Rudd is waiting for Turnbull to take the lead before calling the election, I mean he did say one of the reason for taking back the leadership was to stop Abbott becoming PM.
