That there is manipulation is beyond dispute. That the manipulator uses robotic bidding with tiny trades to accomplish this is also beyond dispute.

The organisations which gain directly from this practice are those who sold short. About 9.05M shares are short sold worth at the current price some $14.67M. Today the value of that short holding dropped from $15.75M. The short sellers made over $1M today and can take that to their bank (or at least the people that lent them the shares). The vast bulk of the trades in the last few weeks have been with these institutions. A smaller percentage is the volume of shares traded, which is why the volume weighted price is a better guide.

The lack of demand for shares is partly due to the company's reluctance to inform and partly due to the share price history, courtesy of the short sellers.

The investors lost (in book value) $48M some of this was real losses for people whose costs exceeded $1.62.

For most of us, this is an irritation, but there are some who occasionally need to liquidate holdings in order to comply with superannuation legislation and other needs. The company does itself no service when it fails to protect the interests of its investors by being so secretive about what it is doing.

I am not a seller by the way. The end of financial year is just a few short weeks away and then they must report to us all. This report better be not just good but extraordinary.
