Wether you marry for procreative or not, thats besides the point
Then why bring it up in your argument?
So your saying that its peoples choices to decide what is right for society?
Can you think of any other way in the history of mankind that laws have been decided for society? It's either the people that decide or it's a dictatorship, usually military based.
...im basing my arguemnet on what has gotten the humans to this point and we have done a darn good job of it
You're confusing correlation with causation.
Just because humans have made it this far doesn't imply that gay marriage (or anything else) is either necessarily bad or good for society.
You can't be blind to the fact that population and pumping-out more humans is the last of the world's problems right now and the reverse is true. And that doesn't just go for third world countries where the growth rate has the greatest velocity; Australia is also at risk of a resource scarcity.
It's a very naive and innocent view to assume that people's motivations are directed to propagating the species. Countless hetero couples get married every year without any desire to have children and modern marriage simply isn't all about having kids. Presumably, we were doing that plenty well before they invented marriage, given we've "made it this far" as you say.
