Imperium3 New York shares details on new battery production facility

With state-of-the-art technology developed right here at home, Dr. Upreti hopes the young talent in this area will stay and help grow the industry in the Southern Tier.

"They graduate and they leave this area simply because there is no ecosystem that exists," said Upreti. "To retain that talent, and also build new talent and bring more jobs, I think it's really important."

Stanley Whittingham, a professor at Binghamton University and winner of the Nobel Science Prize for inventing lithium-ion battery technology, sits on the advisory board for Imperium3. By producing clean energy technology and bringing more jobs, the company says they are ready to invest locally.

"All of our team members will be working here locally, we'll be living here in this community. We have been developing technology in this community for the last two decades," said Upreti.

Endicott is no stranger to the battery industry, with the recent end of a controversial battery recycling project. However, Imperium3 says producing batteries is much different from recycling.

"Our technology is built on more benign, and environmentally more clean and a green supply chain. Some of the major elements we use have already been used in the steel industry for decades," said Upreti.

Moving forward, the company intends to hold more town hall meetings to educate residents and answer any questions regarding the new facility.
