No doubt about it, Comyn is a switched on guy. I'm rather impressed with his ability over the years heading up Comsec then through leading the largest operation being the retail arm , also his public image at the earnings conferences was not short on confidence, he displayed the technicality of Craig, and the tact/guile of Narev. I am a little surprised the candidate was not an external choice. However, I have confidence, Livingstone's search has vetted the CEO succession plan be independent of any direct involvement/responsibility in the APRA investigation. (This is paramount at this point in time)
The other bright-side, is it leaves an experienced individual at the helm of the company, as he can work to make necessary external appointments to other senior roles as necessary. Lastly, given his experience and previous senior positions, it will more than possibly allow him to hit the ground running immediately once he officially takes the helm, the transition from Narev to Comyn (should) be as minimally disruptive a process to business operations vs another external candidate. All IMO.
