The fact they are going to spend $2m on marketing makes sense as the success of this device will depend on how well they market it. It's an old technology dating back to the 1970's that gets used a lot as an alternative to drugs in ADHD therapy. There are multiple neuro-feedback clinics in Sydney already. I guess the difference between them and this device is that people can do it in the comfort of their home and won't have to go to the clinic 30+ times. They are also targeting a niche neuro-feedback market (autism), which many of the other clinics are not. They usually treat ADHD and depression.
Just a comment on the science behind this device and the neuro-feedback field in general. Most studies in this field are poorly controlled. Evidence is correlative not causative. Trials have quite varied outcomes, probably because they don't really know what changing the EEG brain activity is actually doing.
It's good to be aware of all these things.
