    Well, this statement is simply at odds with every analysis I've ever seen. Talk to any financial advisor, and they will show you growth curves - not (straight) lines. The curves come about because investments (and the market) grows according to percentage moves - long term average is 12% per year. (NOT 100 pts per year, or something like that).

    If linear charts work for you, then please, continue using them. I just see things differently then.
