In the 1970s Robert Endean was a marine biologist at uni of Qld. Every year he would report to the media that the GBR was in danger of being wiped out by the Crown of Thorns starfish. The result was that he got his funding renewed. It is a simple formula. Now that enrollments at unis have greatly increased we are producing a plethora of graduates who will never work in their specialty. Hence some of the scary stories about the environment stem from the quest to create state funded jobs for these graduates and of course to increase funding for the scaremongers.
Not saying that conditions are not changing.
Oceans are warming.
The Greens have a unique take on this. They infer that mankind is solely responsible for changing climate. I call this "The Static Green's Model of Climate".
The Greens never talk about the destruction and burning of the world's rainforests. Strangely they are also opposed to the planting of trees. An area the size of Australia has been felled and burnt in recent times and it is accelerating.
The African population explosion is now spilling into National Parks so there go more trees and bush-meat.
Another inference from these champs is that the Greens refuse to believe that organisms can evolve to adapt to a changing climate.
I could go on and on.
