Seems the competition is already hotting up with Optus proposing to offer 100MBPS in Brisbane in a couple of months.
The NBN will be a white elahant before it gets off the ground.

Brisbane is set to get a taste of high speed broadband within the next few months when Optus rolls out a new network.

Optus chief executive Paul O'Sullivan says the telco will launch a new network with speeds of 100 megabytes, similar to those promised in the federal government's National Broadband Network (NBN).

'Over the next few months here in Brisbane, we'll be the first to bring to market a new, high speed broadband network which will have speeds of up to 100 megabytes,' Mr O'Sullivan told reporters in Brisbane on Friday.

'That's a big breakthrough. That's the sort of speeds that people are looking to get with the NBN.

'It's a great chance for Brisbane to get a foretaste of what the nation will get with the National Broadband Network.'

The exact date is yet to be announced.
