Nov 3 (Reuters) - Australia's corporate regulator confirmed on Thursday it would investigate a 6.3% spike in Perpetual Ltd (PPT) shares in the final minute of trading the day before a A$1.68 billion ($1.06 billion) takeover bid was made.

"ASIC is aware of the price movement in Perpetual shares yesterday and, as with all significant price movements around corporate transactions, our surveillance unit will review trading activity," a spokesperson told Reuters by email.

Barings Private Equity Asia (BPEA) and Australian firm Regal Partners (RPL) made a $A30 per share offer for Perpetual on Thursday.
