THERE is nothing quite like a big oil discovery to get the pulse racing in these cold winter months, particularly when a junior company is involved.
And as luck would have it, the ASX is awash with the type of high-risk, high-reward plays that drilling for the black stuff by lightly capitalised juniors can involve.
Cath Norman’s Far (FAR) is one of them, as has been mentioned here. FAR has a 15 per cent exposure to two wells off Senegal that are rated as having the potential for a combined (unrisked) prospective resource of 1.5 billion barrels of oil.
There have been some delays, but Norman was able to say yesterday that the first of the target zones in the first of the wells — Fan 1 — would be reached in a matter of days. So we’ll know soon enough if Far is about to get some of that high reward talked about.
