I am immediately put off by any argument that claims that fossil fuels are "subsidised". They are not. And more often than not the person using this argument is well aware of this. Fossil fuels are charged a tax to pay for roads etc. When these fuels are used off roads for stationary engines etc where no roads are used the tax isn't charged, as it shouldn't be. However the way it is not charged is that the tax is rebated. Some slippery people use this rebate as an excuse to call it a subsidy, which it clearly is not
