The point of a nuclear submarine @pintohoo is that it is undetectable underwater. Even two nuclear subs collided underwater as neither knew the other was there. Diesel subs are too noisy and hence a chance of being detected.
The French I believe are going crazy losing the sub deal with Australia as technically they aren't up to scratch and no other country will buy subs from them going forward destroying the multi billion export business for them.
