I don't know about you folk, but if you're familiar with Dragon's Den (a British show where 4 multi-millionaires in Britain are presented with ideas/technologies by people seeking various levels of investment), the one question which never fails to get asked is (and to paraphrase): Are you protected by patents, in which countries, are they up to date, can we see evidence of these patents before we decide to invest?
So, yes, patents are of the most extreme importance in the minds of wealthy investors/companies.
No patents, no investments.
