When a business is established, it is fair to compare previous year quarters/halves, however, when starting from a low base,this 'doubling' from the previous year is a CEO(in this case, a director) slide of hand trick. At this stage, the sales figures should be compared to the immediate previous figures to see growth not previous period the year before.
