I'm not sure whether some are not a "closed system" in the sense that they seem to me to be impervious of any thoughts that disagree with theirs, to the contradictions in their pet beliefs, to rationality and to reasoning,
The idea of aiming to remove psychic blocks - I think that the above impervious outlooks are part of this - by releasing trapped (unwanted?) energy with dark qualities is a reasonable one. Perhaps a secret is to release that energy in a useful manner is part of the secret.
