    reasonable that wd get something in return for 5 years of collaboration and spending an estimated US$15m (up to Aug 2017) on 4ds

    not sure what point you’re trying to make by drawing a distinction with a wholly owned subsidiary.  Try searching www.hgst.com and see what you get.
