    I suspect it's because for medical research you don't really have results until you crunch the numbers. The exception would probably be complete resolution or death. If a patient has a non response they don't call it non response till end of trial. If a patient had 80% improvement then relapsed it doesn't get written up till end of trial. If 45% patients all get 30% better you don't really know that information till the numbers get crunched. Until then it's observations not actual results.
