i see wipeyface has left me a couple of posts as has zz but since wipeyface is just a syringe leech and zz to me still is making very simplistic arguments, i will reply to this one only..

u've made some good points, about telstras current situation, and i emphasize current..

telstra is undergoing a transformation, and has a lot of cash to do this
yes it will take a while for the transformation to occur and the sp will suffer in the short term.. but if telstra doesn't build the next gen infrastructure in australia who will?
you say those things as if sol and telstra don't want to build it, they DO want to build it, but in a way that will benefit telstra and it's shareholders

adsl2 is a lost cause in my opinion, and companies like iinet will suffer because of it
adsl is too limited and will be left behind very soon

i agree with the points you made but i do see them turning it around, whereas you don't

the current sp currently prices in all the current problems and setbacks IMO
