Now that is a really good point Neo, and the ultimate goal of establishing a commercially viable supply chain QUICKLY by leverage available Australian & Japanese IP & expertise, once that supply chain is established there will be countless opportunities for US companies to engage at every point of that supply chain but with the obvious prerequisite they MUST be commercially robust.

If one of the US science experiments can ultimately produce a cost effective feedstock they will break into the supply chain, if a US company comes up with a better process making metals/alloys they will break in, specialist mag, automated production, ditto.

No limit to what US ingenuity & capital can achieve, just needs the horse before the cart, not self interested politicians & lobbyists playing the horse's ass.
