The closer of Hazelwood by Engie could well have accelerated the progress of GPP's OHD development.
The announcement to close the plant was made only 5 months ago and caught everyone by surprise as it was expected to remain productive for several more years.
The governments both state and federal realise the importance of employment in the Latrobe Valley and are now in a position where inactivity is not an option. Negotiations with alternate industry's are now being fast tracked I believe as the appearance by government to be sitting idle is no longer an option.
