It's happening now.
There are battery recyclers out there now, getting financing & operating commercial plants. But, EV adoption needs to increase & more gigafactories need to be built to increase the amount of feedstock available.
RIL has found the equivalent to a 30tpd plant worth of feedstock.
NMT, after 7 years of work, only has a 10tpd plant. So RIL is off to a good start.
